What's New in Manga? (7/25/16)

Spoiler Warning: Only read it if you've already caught up, don't plan on reading it, or if you want to get an idea of what's going on.

New as in, what's newly translated in English on various manga websites such as mangahere, mangapanda, mangareader, etc. Also, check if it's age appropriate before reading if you're young or plan on sharing it with younger people.

List:

Bastard (HWANG Youngchan) [Chapter 60]

Tower of God [Chapter 288]

Clover (TETSUHIRO Hirakawa) [Chapter 278]

Cashero [Chapter 24]

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! [Chapter 364]

Berserk [Chapter 345]

Fairy Tail [Chapter 495]

Vinland Saga [Chapter 130]

Noblesse [Chapter 416]

Tejina-Senpai [Chapter 23]

Bastard (HWANG Youngchan) [Chapter 60]

This is a small skirmish, a break after that horrible trial that Jin and Kyun went through. But it kinda felt proper. Jin definitely feels more confident in himself from it. More importantly from that progression, Manny Kim declares something at the "duh"-level. If Jin's dad is a murderer like he says, shouldn't there be evidence? I can only imagine how frustrated Jin will be after these realizations.

Tower of God [Chapter 288]

Rak and Ehwa are captured. The festival, along with Kaiser's plan, have begun. A few things stand out. Kaiser stated that she's not the true ruler there. Endorsi and Baam have to fight. Close-ups of Inieta's and Rak's eyes are causing speculation that they may have made a truce, perhaps to overthrow Kaiser. The pacing is fantastic.

Clover (TETSUHIRO Hirakawa) [Chapter 278]

Figured this would happen soon. Reo got mixed in with some loan sharks, it would seem, and he's gotta pay them back. Wonder what he took out the money for? Lot of story and fighting to come, in typical Clover style.

Cashero [Chapter 24]

A heart-wrenching bit that I think quite a lot of people can relate to in some way. In this chapter, the ol' Spiderman dilemma. Not a lot to say other than the author does a really great job at keeping this moderately realistic in expressions and reactions.

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! [Chapter 364 & 365]

I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg here. The lack of a hard punchline here feels like the writer is holding out on us. The contrast of Carol's face getting pukyu~'d and Tomo's wrath is amusing though. Then the P.E. teacher getting in on the same thing, oh boy.

Berserk [Chapter 345]

Ever since Berserk started back up again, I was pleased to see a lot of the smaller interactions come into the spotlight. Lots of action and little lore leaves the brain sore -- and this chapter dives deep right into there. We also get to see Guts willingly talk and speak his mind, as well some facial expressions from him.

Fairy Tail [Chapter 495]

It's a crowning moment when long-standing series last to the 2-digit point. 10 years is a long, long time. I feel like Hiro Mashima has been holding out on Gildarts's return, and what a better way to showcase his changes than a bout with the pompous God Serena. Lots of fluff in this chapter until the reveal, but all is forgiven.

Vinland Saga [Chapter 130]

Lots of political talk in this chapter, regarding spies in Jomsborg and the appointment of Thorkell as Canute's army overseer. Chapter flawlessly increases the tension on one side, and intrigues on the other. Sigurd brought the hardcore comic relief action, which isn't just comedy -- it shows how much he really looks up to Thorkell.

Noblesse [Chapter 416]

Wow, well, can't say I saw that happening. Muzaka actually getting personally involved with a situation, alongside Rai and Frankenstein. *whistle* This'll prove to be a very action-packed arc. Also, can't wait to see what kinda powers Muzaka's got.

Tejina-Senpai [Chapter 23]

A rather disappointing chapter, this one barely got a chuckle out of me. I feel like the author could have done so much more with how to handle Tejina's stage fright. The gags just weren't there.

Big day today. I like it! Lots and lots of huge releases that I was waiting for. Phew!
